The Natura 2000 Quérigut-Orlu site:
Covering an area of 10,279 ha on the high chain of the Pyrenees, between 910 and 2,765 meters above sea level, this site has two faces:
- on one side the large state forests of Donezan, in the municipalities of Mijanès, Artigues, Le Pla and Quérigut
- on the other, the National Hunting and Wildlife Reserve of Orlu.
The Quérigut - Orlu area is very rich and has 25 remarkable natural habitats. This site is home to several species of European interest (the Pyrenean desman, the Bistorte copper butterfly, etc.).
Humans and nature coexist closely.
At the heart of the territorial dynamic, the animation of the site consists in associating the local actors in the management and the conservation of their natural heritage to set up long-lasting actions, appropriate to the territory.
Animation of the site: Mountain Observatory.
