The Grotte de Niaux : a giant of prehistory in Ariege

By torchlight, walking where Cro-Magnon cavemen once lived, you will experience far more than a guided tour! A chance to meet part of your history: the visit will enable you to marvel at the authentic paintings of our ancestors, like nowhere else. A unique experience guaranteed! In the “Salon Noir”, you will find many stunning animal paintings, along with enigmatic geometric symbols, that will transport you to a long-forgotten time. For practical and access reasons, the visit is not recommended for people with reduced mobility or for children under 5 years of age. To ensure the preservation of the site, the number of visitors and the duration of visits are limited, and online reservations are required in advance.

Niaux is one of the latest caves to be still open to the public and to preserve these old works - 14 000 years and maintain public access, the number of people and length of visits are limited.
