  • Recognized for more than 30 years as one of the largest caves in Europe, 125 million years have shaped Lombrives which are full of historical and geological particularities as well as astonishing concretions with evocative names.

  • After an approach walk of one kilometer or by small train...... your guide accompanies you to Lombrives, recognized as the largest cave in Europe, for a 2-hour guided family hike.

    You enter a fascinating natural cavity where legends, protohistory and history have left their mark...
    You cross the Carène, walk on the fault, take the narrow Passage du Crime.
    You find yourself in the grandiose Amphitheater: a cathedral conducive both to contemplation and to cultural events.

    Opening period 2023:

    January: 1st week of January: Tuesday 3/01- Thursday 5/1 1 visit at 2 p.m. in French, 1 visit at 2 p.m. in Spanish , Saturday 7/01 1 visit at 2 p.m. in French, 1 visit at 2:30 p.m. in Spanish then open on Saturdays and Sunday with a visit at 2:30 p.m.
    February: School holidays all zones every day - tours at 10.30 a.m. - 2.30 p.m. - additional tour at 3.30 p.m. (zone C)
    March/April outside school holidays: Saturday and Sunday with visit at 2.30 p.m.
    Easter holidays: Every day - visits at 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. - additional visit at 3:30 p.m. (zone C)
    May: open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays - visit at 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
    June : open every day for visits at 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
    July/August: open every day many visits throughout the day (10.30 a.m.-2.30 p.m.-4 p.m.)-
    September: open every day for visits at 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
    October: Open on Wednesdays: visit at 2.30 p.m. - Saturdays and Sundays visits at 10.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m.
    All Saints holidays : Open every day visits at 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
    November to mid-December : open Wednesday with visit at 2.30 p.m. - Saturday visit at 2.30 p.m. - Sunday visit at 10.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. -  
    Christmas school holidays:1st week of holidays open every day with visits at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. - 2nd week of holidays open every day with visits at 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
    Evening of December 31 : Aperitif concert on New Year's Day from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

    CAVE OPEN ALL YEAR except DECEMBER 25 AND JANUARY 1

    DEEP TIME : A UNIQUE TEMPORAL EXPERIENCE took place in March/April 2021 in the cave of Lombrives
    7 women and 7 men go underground to live in total isolation for 40 days, without any way of knowing the time (no sun or watch)
    An expedition beyond time!
