Basin of the Basse

Historic site and monument in Ax-les-Thermes
  • Come and discover one of the city's three Basins

  • Built in 1672, the Bassin de la Basse is fed by the thermal springs of the Basse and the Rougeron.
Formerly covered with a slate roof, it was mainly used by washerwomen for rinsing laundry with water at 18 ° C.
It was restored by the town in 2008, and is now open to the public as a footbath, like the famous Ladres basin.

Today tourists do not fail to dip their feet in the basin, attributing to it relaxing and healing virtues.
